Biodegradable plastic packaging can replace the traditional plastic packaging

2021.04.01

Faced with the increasingly severe environmental pollution problem of plastic products, the development of biodegradable and pollution-free materials and the search for better substitutes for plastic products have become the focus of scientific research of the industry. Microbial biodegradable materials, as a kind of natural biodegradable materials, have played a unique role in energy conservation and environmental protection. Scientific research and development of microbial biodegradable materials have been rapidly developed and have been pointed out as a reasonable and effective way to deal with "white pollution".

At present, microbial biodegradable plastic packaging materials have the characteristics of easy biodegradation and wide source of raw materials, which can reasonably and effectively alleviate environmental pollution. It has been pointed out that it is a means to deal with environmental pollution of plastic products. In recent years, some degradable plastics and biological materials have been developed around the world, which has greatly promoted the development and growth of the plastic packaging materials industry in various countries. And degradable plastics (mainly in plastic products add additive such as starch, cellulose, photosensitizer, biological JiangXieJi) consuming large quantities of food crops, can not eliminate defects such as visual pollution, and the emergence of the micro plastic material in the soil environment, biological degradation efficiency is slow, can not be recycled in time. Therefore, the application prospect of degradable plastics is limited, and the most potential research and development is microbial plastic packaging materials. So, what are the raw materials of microbial biodegradable materials? There have been certain results: banana waste, avocado seeds, tomato skin, cactus, bean curd residue, corn starch and so on.

tofu

Soybeans are usually processed into tofu and soy milk, and the residue is usually discarded. When such residues are fermented, however, the cellulose can be left behind when microbes eat up the nutrients, which can be made into plastic packaging. It is understood that a foreign university professor invented a kind of biodegradable food packaging materials. The author learned that the plastic packaging bag is made of cellulose, extracted from the waste produced by soybean products, plastic packaging bag is more energy saving and environmental protection. Both plastic waste and food waste are reduced.

Usually some microorganism made of energy-saving environmentally friendly plastic packaging bags to a long time in more than 50℃ ambient temperature can be fully biodegradable. If the abandoned bioplastics have no suitable environmental temperature, they will not be able to biodegrade, which is likely to aggravate the environmental pollution problem of plastic products. However, the energy-saving and environment-friendly plastic packaging bags made from bean curd residue extract do not need ambient temperature conditions and can biodegrade themselves within one month, which not only reduces plastic waste but also reduces food waste, achieving a win-win situation.

Corn starch

With the development and expansion of the global economy and the continuous progress of scientific and technological innovation, people's demand for corn has been opened up to many new fields. The author learned that a company in a province developed and produced plastic straws, tableware, placemats and other plastic products, mainly made of corn starch. Microbial plastic films featuring biodegradable resins made from corn starch and other plant-derived compounds achieve biodegradation in 95 to 240 days, reducing environmental pollution.

Because plastic products have impermeable, impermeable, acid and alkali resistance, light weight and other characteristics and higher strength, durability and advantages of high quality and low price, and then become the most common plastic flexible packaging application of a class of materials. In addition to manufacturing enterprises, retailers, farmers' wholesale markets and even takeaway fast food stalls on the streets all use plastic bags and foamed plastic boxes as the main packaging. About half of these products end up in the natural environment and typically take 200 years to biodegrade.

And another mass application of plastic packaging materials is paper plastic products, this kind of paper and plastic products after the application of the vast majority of abandoned in the natural environment, even under the action of microorganisms, it will take 80 years to biodegrade. This kind of difficult biodegradable plastic products are abandoned in the natural environment, resulting in a huge waste of resources and environmental pollution.

In view of this situation, scientists put forward the concept of "natural environment plastic packaging bag", microbial biodegradable plastic packaging materials in this kind of big background, showing a blue ocean scene.
